Overnight rain causes heavy floods in Cavan and Monaghan

Parts of Co Cavan and Co Monaghan are heavily flooded this morning following heavy rainfall in the area overnight.

The flooding is affecting low-lying farmland near Cootehill and Shercock, as well as in Clones and Ballybay.

A number of premises near Castleblayney also had to be pumped out by the fire brigade overnight.

Motorists are being warned to expect delays in the area and to allow extra time for their journeys.
