Owners urged to keep pets indoors during Halloween

Published 28/10/2007 | 08:05

Pet-owners are being reminded to keep their animals indoors as much as possible over Halloween.

The sound of bangers and fireworks can cause dogs, in particular, significant distress and fear.

The DSPCA says that can lead to them running out in front of cars and injuring themselves.

They are advising owners to speak to their local vet if their pet isn't distracted by the usual methods of drowning out the festive noise such as turning on the radio or television.
