Dublin Airport Authority will attempt to leave a turbulent week behind them today with the opening of Pier D.
Four flights will use the departure lounge facility for the first time later today.
The €120 million development will eventually accommodate almost half of the total 23 million passengers who are expected to use the airport this year.
Pier D, which will handle up to twelve flights at once when properly up and running, is part of a €2 billion ten-year development plan to upgrade Dublin airport.
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern is due to officially open the pier next month.
