An Bord Pleanala has given final approval to the development of a tourism and recreational complex at the former estate of the late Charles Haughey in north Co Dublin.
Fingal County Council had already granted permission to Manor Park Homes to build a 70-bedroom hotel, a golf course and clubhouse, a fitness centre, tennis courts and other amenities at the Abbeville estate in Kinsealy.
The developer is also planning to build 46 houses on the site.
An Taisce had objected to the move, but An Bord Pleanala rejected the objection today, against the recommendation of its own inspector.
The board says it believes the plans would not harm the designated architectural conservation area where it is located and is in accordance with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area.
