Rescuers begin search for man in the Liffey

A search has begun in Co. Kildare after a man went into the river Liffey in the early hours of this morning.

The alarm was raised when the man's brother reported the incident to Gardai in Newbridge, according to local reports.

It is believed he entered the water at around 2 o'clock.

The Air Support unit carried out a search of the area this morning and the Garda water unit has been requested.
