Search continues for fisherman missing off Waterford coast

Published 03/11/2006

The emergency services are continuing to search for the body of a 62-year-old fisherman who fell overboard from his trawler off the coast of Co Waterford on Wednesday night.

Paddy McCabe, a father-of-four from Dundalk in Co Louth, is understood to have fallen into the sea while checking equipment on the vessel near Creadon Head.

He was not wearing a life-jacket at the time of the incident, which happened just after midnight on Wednesday night.

The coastguard, local lifeboats and private vessels are all involved in the search for Mr McCabe's remains, while navy divers are also due to join the operation later today.
