SIPTU President Jack O'Connor is voicing optimism about the social partnership talks.
Formal discussions between the social partners, with a view to agreeing a new national recovery plan, are expected to continue over the coming days.
Mr. O'Connor said he is hopeful employers and the Government will move on issues they previously held firm on.
He believes a change in attitude could be on the way because of the urgency of tackling the problems with the economy.
