St Vincent de Paul spends record amounts to combat poverty

St Vincent de Paul has spent a record amount of money helping people in poverty last year.

The charity is hoping to raise at least 3 and a half million euro during this year's Christmas appeal.

The increase in the cost of living is being blamed for making it more difficult to live within our means, and as a result even more people are falling into the poverty trap.

The society is hoping that with the help from the public, it will be able to spread some Christmas cheer this year and give underprivileged families a little extra.
