Taoiseach lauds new out-of-hours D-DOC service

The Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has said that the new urgent D-DOC service that launched today is one of the greatest developments in Irish medical services.

Speaking at the launch today, Mr Ahern said that these new out-of-hour doctor facilities would be key to the provision of a comprehensive health system.

D-DOC will serve half a million people living in north Dublin and will open all night during the week and on a 24-hour basis at the weekends.

It is hoped this will free up A&E departments in north Dublin acute hospitals.
