The Script win Best Irish Band at Meteor Awards

The Script were the big winners at last night's Meteor Awards in Dublin, picking up the gongs for Best Irish Band and Best Irish Album.

The Dublin band have enjoyed huge success during the year following the release of their eponymous debut album.

Elsewhere, The Blizzards won Best Irish Live Performance for their gig at Oxegen last year, while Westlife picked up the award for Best Irish Pop Act.

Best Irish Male went to Mick Flannery, with Imelda May named Best Irish Female.

The Meteor Industry Award was presented to Hot Press editor Niall Stokes and Sharon Shannon picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award for her exceptional contribution to Irish music.
