Published 12/01/2007

Three men have appeared before Ennis District Court charged with the manslaughter of a Co Clare man last September.

Thirty-three-year-old Vincent Hehir, of Kildysart, died after an alleged assault in the west Clare village.

The three men in court today were arrested in Kilrush this morning.

Their solicitors applied for bail this afternoon and it was granted before Judge Joseph Mangan without objection by the State, subject to a number of conditions.

The three must sign on weekly at specified garda stations, reside at addresses given in court, surrender their passports, stay away from licensed premises in Kildysart and observe sober behaviour.

All three were remanded on continuing bail on their bond of €500 and an independent surety of €1,000 to appear before Ennis District Court on March 23rd, when the book of evidence will be presented.
