Three young men killed in latest road tragedy in Co Mayo

Three young men, two of whom are believed to be cousins, have been killed in yet another tragic crash on Ireland's roads.

The three work colleagues died just before 6.30pm yesterday evening when their car collided head-on with a small truck on the outskirts of Ballinrobe in Co Mayo.

The victims were all in their 20s and had been living locally in the Ballinrobe area.

Gardai are still trying to establish exactly what caused the crash, which happened during reasonable weather conditions on a straight stretch of the Castlebar Road, near the entrance to the local racecourse.

The deaths bring to 318 the number of people killed on Ireland's roads so far this year.
