Toddler dies after road accident

A toddler died after a tragic road accident, police said

A toddler who was nearly two-years-old has died after a tragic road accident, police said.

The little girl was walking on the Blackstaff Road in Clough, Co Down, on Saturday night when she was struck by a 4x4-type vehicle.

A woman who was with the child suffered a suspected broken arm and was taken to hospital after the accident, which occurred at around 5.15pm.

The driver of the vehicle was also taken to hospital suffering from shock and whiplash.

The child was one month away from her second birthday.

Police have appealed for information on the accident.
