Two men remanded in custody over Ballymun assault

Two men have appeared in court in Dublin charged in connection with an assault on a teenage boy in Ballymun last night.

32-year-old Neil Murphy and 23-year-old Patrick Murphy from separate addresses on Ferrycarrig Road in Coolock have been charged with assault causing harm.

The two men were arrested shortly after the attack on the 16-year-old boy on the Shangan Road in Ballymun at around 10 o'clock last night.

He sustained serious head injuries and is fighting for his life at the intensive care unit of the Mater Hospital this evening.

His condition is described as critical.

They were remanded in custody and are due to appear before Cloverhill District Court next Wednesday.
