The country's university teachers have warned that they might embark on industrial action if they don't get a better deal in the next national pay agreement.
The Irish Federation of University Teachers has said that they were very unhappy that they did not get the pay increase they felt they deserved in this month's Benchmarking Report.
The IFUT said that its members have dealt with a fifth more students between 1999 and 2004, while also getting shorter holidays and longer working weeks.
