15 dead in Kenya after church attack

Published 01/01/2008

15 people are dead after a mob attacked and set fire to a church in Kenya, where hundreds of people had taken refuge from post-election violence.

The massacre happened in Eldoret, some 185 miles from the capital, Nairobi.

It's feared up to 265 people have been killed in three days of clashes with armed police following the re-election of President Mwai Kibaki.

Pressure is mounting on the President to investigate the polls which saw him re-elected.

Michael Ranneberger, the US Ambassador to Kenya says the process was not fully transparent and accountable.
