Campaigners ask government to get tough on Burma

Human rights campaigners have urged the government to lobby other EU countries to stop trading with Burma.

It follows reports that a further two thousand villagers in a remote part of the country have been driven from their homes in the latest wave of militia-led violence.

At least three million people have been internally displaced within Burma, while a similar number of refugees have fled to Thailand.

Burma Action Ireland said European countries who continue to do business there are simply lining the pockets of Burmese generals
