Suicide bomber kills 35 recruits at Pakistani army base
A suicide bomber has killed at least 35 Pakistani army recruits in an attack on a training base in the north-west of the country.
The Pakistani military said the man ran into the training area in the town of Dargai and blew himself up while the recruits were gathering for exercises this morning.
Dargai is the army's main training centre and is located around 60 miles north of Peshawar, the capital of North West Frontier Province.
The tribal area is a a stronghold for Islamic militant groups and is close to the scene of a Pakistani air strike that killed 80 people at an Islamic school last week.
Militants had vowed to carry out suicide attacks against the army in the wake of the October 30th attack, which has prompted widespread protests and rallies.
