Blyton books to make a comeback

Published 24/08/2008

Children's story book favourites are set to make a comeback.

Some of author Enid Blyton's best-loved characters are to return for the first time in over half a century, in a new series of adventures over the next two years, starting from this September.

The Famous Five, The Faraway Tree and Malory Towers will all be revisited for the first time in over half a century in 20 new books planned by the late author's estate.

Last week Blyton topped a poll of 2,000 international authors, to be named the UK's best-loved writer, fending off competition from Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and Roald Dahl to the top spot.

Eight million Blyton books are still sold worldwide every year.
