Explorer abandons attempt to reach North Pole

A British explorer has called off her attempt to become the first woman to reach the North Pole alone and unaided.

Hannah McKeand injured herself after falling through ice.

She set out from Canada's Ward Hunt Island earlier this month.

The 34-year-old and had hoped to cover the 478 mile journey in sixty days.
