Father dies after arson attack that killed wife and daughters

Published 03/11/2006

The father of the family targeted in an apparent arson attack on a house in Britain earlier this week has died from his injuries in hospital.

Forty-nine-year-old Mohammed Riaz suffered serious burns in the blaze at his house in the Accrington area of Lancashire on Wednesday.

His 39-year-old wife and their four daughters, aged between three and 15, were also killed in the blaze, which is believed to have been started deliberately.

Police had named Mr Riaz as their "top line of inquiry" in the murder hunt.
