Irish people arrested in Copenhagen riots

Published 04/03/2007

A number of Irish people have been arrested following a third night of violence on the streets of Copenhagen.

Police have clashed with youths who set fire to cars and threw petrol bombs.

They raided houses, schools and hostels and arrested around 100 activists.

Local media are suggesting that as many as 600 people have been detained by police since Thursday.

Demonstrators are protesting at the eviction of squatters from a youth centre in the Danish capital.
