Metal detectors to be introduced in hundreds of UK schools

Airport-style metal detectors are to be installed at hundreds of schools in the UK in a new drive to cut knife crime.

The search arches will be used at the some of the country's toughest secondary schools.

It is reported that the plan has the backing of senior police officers and teachers.

The Association of School and College Leaders have said they support the idea but believe the issue must not be blown out of proportion.
