Tesco changes its slogans

Tesco is changing the slogans on its checkout posters in order to end an ongoing debate about its linguistics.

English enthusiasts argue about whether signs on check-outs should say "10 items or less" or "10 items or fewer".

So Tesco bosses have decided to replace the signs with new ones reading "Up to 10 items" - a solution suggested by language watchdog The Plain English Campaign.
