The US economy has come out of recession, according to GDP estimates published in the country today.
The figures point to economic growth of around 3.5% for the third quarter.
The increase has been fuelled by US Government stimulus measures aimed at boosting spending on cars and homes.
It will be welcomed across the world, where many economies rely on US demand to support their export markets.
