Slumdog Millionaire wins Best Film at Golden Globes

The British film Slumdog Millionaire has emerged triumphant at the annual Golden Globes awards in Los Angeles.

The story of how an impoverished Indian teen became a contestant on the Hindi version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire won four trophies at last night's ceremony, including Best Dramatic Film and Best Director for Danny Boyle.

Mickey Rourke won Best Dramatic Actor for his much-lauded role in The Wrestler, while Kate Winslett won Best Dramatic Actress for Revolutionary Road.

Winslett also picked up the Best Supporting Actress award for The Reader, while the late Heath Ledger was honoured with the Best Supporting Actor award for The Dark Knight.
