Tough road ahead for Bush as Republicans lose Virginia seat

The world's most powerful man now faces a tough future without control of Congress in America.

George Bush's Republicans have conceded defeat in the battle for Virginia's Senate seat after Republican George Allen lost admitted defeat there.

Bush has effectively lost control of the Senate after the mid-term elections.

But he has insisted that he can work with his Democrat opponents to achieve his aims.

He said "We won't agree on every issue, but we do agree that we both love America equally and we are concerned about the future of this country and we will work together on big problems."
