Collapse kills 11 World Cup fans

The World Cup Trophy - 11 fans have been killed watching a game in Senegal

Police in Senegal say 11 people died after the collapse of a terrace on which they had gathered to watch a World Cup match on television.

Police said the collapse happened as the people were watching Saturday's game between Uruguay and Korea.

A police official said there may still be people trapped in the rubble of the building in Matam, in northern Senegal.

Football is eagerly followed in the West African nation, and the streets of the capital, Dakar, were thronged with revellers after Ghana triumphed over the US by 2-1 in a later match.
