Bull's head stuck in feeding trough

Firefighters used cutting equipment to free a bull trapped in a feeding trough

Firefighters in Somerset helped rescue a bull - after it got its head stuck in a feeding trough.

The animal became trapped in a circular feeder on land in Muchelney, Langport, at around 4pm on Saturday.

A crew from Somerton and the Special Rescue Team from Bridgwater both attended the scene.

But after unsuccessfully attempting to free the bull for more than 40 minutes, a vet was called and the animal was sedated.

A Devon and Somerset Fire spokesman said the animal was eventually freed at 6pm after specialist cutting equipment had been used.
