A man returned from a meal with his daughter to find his dog had also dined out - on 500 dollars he had left in his car.
Wayne Klinkel, who does not carry a wallet on his chiropractor's advice, told the Independent Record Sundance, his 12-year-old golden retriever, ate the bills during a visit to the Klinkels' daughter in Denver, Colorado last Christmas.
Sundance was left alone in the car with five 100-dollar bills and a one-dollar bill when they stopped for dinner.
The dog ate the 100-dollar bills, but left the dollar - and an especially dirty job for Mr Klinkel .
Mr Klinkel, of Helena, Montana, said he collected fragments from the dog's droppings and his daughter found more when the snow melted.
He says he washed the remnants of the bills and sent them taped together to the Treasury Department in hopes of having them replaced.
