A Dutch lawyer is attempting to get his client out of jail with an unusual argument - he is too tall and fat for his cell.
Bas Martens said his client is about 6 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 35 stone.
The prisoner, identified under Dutch privacy law by his initials, AM, is serving a two-year sentence for fraud.
Court spokeswoman Paula Keuning confirmed that a hearing took place on Thursday and a ruling is due on February 8.
The lawyer described his client as "a giant", and argued his imprisonment is so painful it violates European human rights law.
Speaking on national radio, he said electronically supervised house arrest would be more fair.
