A man is seriously ill after being bitten three times by an adder

A man has been seriously hurt after he was attacked by a snake.

The 44-year-old man, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, was bitten three times by an adder in Dalby Forest, North Yorkshire.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service said the man was treated on scene, at tourist attraction Go Ape at Dalby Forest, by a rapid-response paramedic and an off-duty paramedic from the South East Coast Ambulance Service who was there on holiday.

A trauma team led by a doctor then arrived.

The man was stabilised before the flight and taken to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, a flight time of 13 minutes, in a serious but stable condition.
