Herman Goldman has turned 101 - and still works at the same company where he started 73 years ago.

Mr Goldman still shows up four days a week at light fixtures company Capitol Lighting in New Jersey, and his colleagues this week helped him celebrate his 101st birthday.

Apart from a brief absence to serve in the US Army during the Second World War, Mr Goldman has worked at Capitol Lighting since 1941. The store says he was first hired to sell items and stock and clean the displays.

Colleague Sandy Ronco says Mr Goldman now specialises in rebuilding items that are damaged or unusable.

Mr Goldman lives in nearby Whippany and still drives himself to work.
