A £3.68 MWD - Minimum Wage Dress - has gone on sale aimed at women who "want to look good on a budget".
Online retailer SheLikes.com said it created the MWD to cost the same as an hour's pay on the minimum wage for under-18s "to enable ladies to look super sophisticated, no matter how little cash they have to spare".
The dresses are made by Figa Store in Leicester.
SheLikes.com director Nick Puri said: "SheLikes.com is championing fashion for women who work really hard on a low wage. Our customer research revealed that people feel increasing pressure to dress fashionably but are feeling more financially stretched than ever.
"The increase in social media photo tagging has definitely added to this pressure. It's led to women feeling insecure about wearing the same dress over and over again.
"They fear showing up on their friends' feeds in the same outfit that they've already been seen in, so prefer to buy cheaper styles that they don't mind wearing as little as two to three times."
He added: "We fully support British manufacturing and are dedicated to working with UK-based suppliers, despite being able to source cheaper production rates overseas."
The MWD is available in three colours - neon green, pink and black.
