Police gave a man "advice" after he shocked onlookers by jumping off a 15-storey tower block.

The 43-year-old landed unscathed after deploying a parachute when he leapt off Welton House, Fulbeck Road, Middlesbrough.

Worried onlookers rang police after seeing him on the roof, and were concerned he was going to kill himself, not realising the man was a base-jumper.

A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "He is safe and well but he has had some words of advice from officers."
