A parked car was smashed through the front wall of a house after it was hit by a van.

The BMW saloon, which had been on the driveway, ended up making a hole in the lounge wall of the terraced house from the force of the collision in the early hours of Tuesday, West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service said.

Nobody was in the car at the time but the home in Parkgate Road, Coventry, Warwickshire, was occupied when the crash happened at about 1am.

A fire service spokesman said: "The occupant of the van, who got out before the fire service arrived, had suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital.

"One man in the property was treated by the fire service and received a precautionary check-up.

"Both vehicles were made safe and a structural engineer attended."
