Police are hunting a man spotted attacking trees with a samurai-style sword in Dumfries.

A knifeman was seen slashing at trees in the town's Mill Green on Friday morning.

A similar incident was reported at the park in January where the tree was so badly damaged it had to be cut down, police said.

The man was described as 30 to 35 years old, of Chinese appearance and was wearing a baseball-style cap.
