Police hunt wheelchair ramp thief
Police are hunting a thief who stole a wheelchair ramp from a rail station.
The bizarre crime took place on platform nine at Liverpool Lime Street last month.
The raider carried the ramp as he headed to the station's taxi rank where he then travelled to a pub on the promenade at New Brighton, Merseyside.
British Transport Police has issued a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident which happened shortly before 3.15pm on Friday, October 25.
Pc Richard Melling said: "This is an extremely unusual theft in that it doesn't appear to have been motivated by greed. It is extremely unlikely that the man would be able to sell on the ramp and make a profit from his criminal act.
"It is, however, a theft which impacts on the daily running of the station and seems designed to cause problems for other rail passengers.
"I am determined to trace the thief and am calling on anyone with information to come forward."
Anyone with information should contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, quoting log B5/NWA of 11/11/13.
