Rush-hour trying over spilt milk

A milk tanker crash has caused road chaos

Rush-hour motorists faced disruption after a milk tanker believed to be carrying around 22,000 litres of milk tipped on to its side.

The A272 Cowfold Road at Bolney, West Sussex, was closed following the accident at 1.35am on Tuesday, Sussex Police said.

The milk tanker driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, East Sussex, but his condition is not thought to be life-threatening.

A police spokesman said another tanker had to be called in to transfer the milk, and the road was still closed at 8am to allow rescue and recovery work to take place.
