We can put on a good show at Balmoral
Momentum is gathering ahead of two big events the week after next. The Balmoral Show – where the country comes to the city, and where a couple of hard-working Co Armagh farmers I know very well get a well-earned day out – takes place in Balmoral Park at the Maze between May 14 and 16.
It would be wrong to say that farming and all things agricultural are male-dominated, but it's fair to say men will outnumber women at the show.
In the Waterfront Hall around the same time, men will be thinner on the ground as businesswomen gather to mark the first occasion that the International Business Women's Conference has been hosted by Women in Business Northern Ireland.
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has pledged her support for the International Women's Conference from May 12 to 15.
She said the conference would highlight the growing female entrepreneurship in the Northern Ireland economy and provide an opportunity to hear from "inspiring and thought-provoking business leaders". No doubt she will be at the Balmoral Show too and will lend her support to both vitally important events.
