Belfast taxi firm still riding high after 20 years
Value Cabs will continue battling its rivals in the taxi market in Belfast for decades to come, its boss has said.
The firm, set up in 1997 by Christopher and Stephen McCausland, is celebrating 20 years in business.
"When we opened back in January 1997, we opened with 20 drivers and we had to then go and find customers," Christopher McCausland said.
"It was a chicken and egg situation. We secured quite a few customers in the early days and driver numbers.
"Our objective has been to provide a top quality taxi service. "We brought in uniforms, shirts and ties from day one."
Value Cabs has grown to 800 drivers across Belfast and is the largest taxi firm in the city.
But while he claims he doesn't look at what the competition is doing, including taxi-app business Uber, Christopher says his company will "be battling away with whoever is in the market."
