Benedict O Hanlon runs three thriving businesses in Ballygawley: Todds Leap activity centre, a pallet manufacture business and a vehicle modification business.
Together they employ 21 full time and 23 part time staff, but to meet growing demand for their services, primarily from the Republic of Ireland, Benedict recently decided to employ 10 more staff.
He applied for assistance under Invest Northern Ireland’s Jobs Fund and was offered £49,500, representing £4,950 per job.
The Todds Leap activity centre features 100 acres of purpose-built outdoor tracks, activities and team-building courses used for corporate entertainment, training days, extreme driver training and youth activity events. It was recently awarded the Northern Ireland Tourist Board Best Visitor Experience 2012.
Benedict O Hanlon says: “Our outdoor activity centre offers a range of team-building courses for businesses as well as youth programmes.
“We have worked hard to raise the profile of the businesses in recent years and as a result are welcoming increased numbers of visitors from across the border. The support from the Jobs Fund will help us to put into place the staff needed to service the activity centre and support the pallet racking and vehicle modification businesses.”
Ian Murphy, Director of Invest NI’s Growth & Scaling Division, says: “Over the last few years Todds Leap has grown its turnover and increased its reputation across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. There has also been increased profitability in the other businesses involved in the manufacture of pallet racking and the modification of vehicles for off-road use.
“As a result, Benedict needs to expand his workforce across the three businesses. With support from our Jobs Fund he will be able to recruit the staff quickly to ensure that he can build on recent success.”
The Jobs Fund is part of Invest NI’s Boosting Business campaign which provides businesses with a range of support under the themes of jobs, skills, research and development, exports and technology.
