APTX comes up trumps in Las vegas

Wednesday, 10 February 2010

Belfast audio technology company APTX was the winner of a Best of CES 2010 Award at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group highlighted the Create Inspire S2 Wireless Speakers with apt-x technology as the product that will make its mark on the consumer electronics industry in the coming year.

Jonny McClintock, Commercial Director, for APTX said, "Winning the Bluetooth SIG Best of CES Award is a fantastic endorsement of apt-X. It is considered by many to be the savior of Stereo Bluetooth Audio and as such every product should go to market offering apt-X." He added “considering the volume and nature of Bluetooth products that are available to consumers and the names of companies in the Top 10 finalists along with APTX, this is a very proud and future defining moment”

Fifty-four devices were submitted for consideration and were carefully tested and inspected by the Bluetooth SIG based on a variety of criteria including interoperability testing, containing expected profiles, and ease of use. Bonus points were awarded to those products that included Experience Icons on the product packaging or the product website, and also for products utilizing the newly adopted Bluetooth V3.0 specification. After ten finalists (amongst which were Microsoft, Samsung, Sony and Nokia) were selected, one overall winner was chosen.

Also during CES, APTX were able to make key product announcements from Jaybird (iSport and Blue Bud) and Armor / QED (uPlay) who chose to use this event to launch apt-X enabled Stereo Bluetooth products. To support the growing list of customers, APTX has also announced additions to personnel by recruiting Simon Denvir and Damien Vandenbeyvanghe as Field Application Engineers.
