The Belfast Telegraph's website has won the top digital news award at the media industry's ‘Oscars', the 2010 Newspaper Awards.
The website, which was nominated in all three online categories, was named Digital News Service of the Year.
Other nominees included the Guardian, Daily Telegraph and Manchester Evening News.
Belfast Telegraph Online Editor Jerome Crolly said the award was recognition for the hard work and dedication of the digital editorial team.
“To be nominated alongside the Guardian and Daily Telegraph is praise indeed; to win the award is a tremendous achievement.”
The site also received a Commendation for Best Use of Citizen Journalism — with the award going the Guardian's G20 — and was nominated for Best Use of New Media, which was won by The Daily Telegraph.
The judges said: "Belfast Telegraph's investment in its full-time online staff and its relaunch has clearly paid off with more than a five-fold increase in monthly page impressions. The site has genuine desire to service the needs and harness the perspective of users."
One judge added: "I love this site – it just gets better and better.”
The Sunday Life was nominated for Weekend Newspaper of the Year, alongside the Mail on Sunday and the Sunday Times.
