A Northern Ireland bread brand has launched a new form of packaging following extensive consumer research.
Sunblest, which is owned by Allied Bakeries, said the new look capitalised on the red and yellow colour scheme associated with the brand and would boost its on-shelf visibility. The transparent packaging, which will feature the brand's new strap line 'raised with Sunblest,' is printed by Jordan Plastics in Portadown.
Sunblest said it had invested over £2.1m in deals with Jordan and other local suppliers including Neill's Flour Mill in Belfast, Dale Farm in Ballymena, Glenshane Eggs in Maghera and Quality Eggs in Lisnaskea.
Sunblest's marketing executive Andrew Hollywood said: "The new packaging will modernise the Sunblest brand for today's market.
"A lot of consumer feedback was gained before the changes were implemented and the new design has updated and refreshed this long-established brand which has been enjoyed in Northern Ireland for more than 50 years," he said.
"2009 was a strong year for the brand with sales of over 16m packs annually and I am confident that with the pack redesign and increased marketing support, 2010 will be an even stronger year."
Jordan Plastics company sales executive Alan Dawson said: "We have been working with Sunblest and Allied Bakeries for over eight years and we are delighted that the bakery has chosen to continue having its bread bags printed by a local company and more importantly with Jordan Plastics."
Sunblest is baked at Orby Link in east Belfast.
