Cash-loss banks face bonus cuts

UK banks should cut dividends and bonuses if they have overstated the levels of protective cash buffers they hold, a financial watchdog warned.

The Bank of England's Financial Policy Committee said lenders could be misleading investors by failing to reveal losses on bad debts or compensation bills, in particular for mis-sold payment protection insurance (PPI).
