Fencing firm contracts coup

Thursday, 8 January 2009

Draperstown manufacturer Rogers Fencing Systems has won contracts to supply steel security gates to a number of high profile clients in Britain and the Republic.

The company is to make and install high specification gates for installations being developed by UK gas and electricity supplier EDF Energy at one of the biggest construction projects in the London area, and is also manufacturing gates for the National Grid and the Post Office.

Rogers Fencing has also recently supplied security gates for ESB installations in the Republic and locally at George Best Belfast City Airport, according to Invest NI.

The economic development agency is helping the firm develop its marketing and sales outside Northern Ireland.

Rogers Fencing managing director Cathal Rogers said: “We've been focusing resources on increasing business in Britain and the Republic and have developed a reputation of offering quality products and quick response services. This reputation led to an invitation from EDF Energy to tender for the new business in London.

“The EDF contract strengthens our position substantially as a manufacturer of high specification and innovative security products in a very important and highly competitive marketplace.

“The National Grid, Post Office and ESB contracts have also enhanced our standing as both an innovator in security solutions and as a customer-focused company,” Mr Rogers added.

The family-owned firm employs 35 people at its Draperstown plant and sales operation in England.

Des Gartland, Invest NI’s North West regional manager, said the contracts show Rogers is competing successfully in other markets.

“Rogers Fencing is an ambitious and highly professional business that is now successfully focusing resources on developing markets outside Northern Ireland,” he said.

“It has now established an impressive position and standing as a leading manufacturer in security solutions.”
