Food and drink show gets blooming better
Wednesday, 8 September 2010
A food, drink and floral show celebrating the best of Northern Ireland's produce will take place at Belfast's Botanic Gardens this month.
The Taste Northern Ireland Garden Party is being hosted by Belfast City Council and Tesco.
Visitors to the show on Saturday September 18 and Sunday September 19 will be able take a culinary tour of the region by browsing food stalls and meeting producers.
Caoimhe Mannion, marketing manager for Tesco in Northern Ireland, said: "Following the success of our inaugural Tesco Taste Northern Ireland food show last September, we're delighted to join forces with Belfast City Council's former Garden Gourmet event to create Belfast's newest food, drink and floral show."
Ms Mannion added: "The quality and passion of local food and drink producers is something that the Tesco team based in Northern Ireland has the privilege of working with every day, and we are proud that our purchasing has grown from £50m worth annually when Tesco arrived in 1997, to over £480m.
"We are delighted to be able to showcase the excellence of local food and drinks companies, and their products to a large consumer audience in the Tesco marquee at the Taste Northern Ireland Garden Party."
The event will be divided into two sections, with a suppliers' marquee including a cookery theatre with live demonstrations, a Diageo cocktail feature and the Belfast Autumn Flower Show.
