Homer Simpson's business advice celebrated in book

Homer Simpson

The unlikely figure of Homer Simpson has emerged in a new collection of business quotations.

The cartoon character appears alongside television series Mad Men’s John Draper; Seargeant Bilko and Gordon Gekko from the movie Wall Street in the Book of Business Quotations.

The collection, compiled for the Economist magazine, includes Homer’s words of wisdom: “If you don’t like your job you don’t strike. You just go in every day and do it really half-assed. That's the American way.”

Draper, the hard-drinking 1960s advertising executive played by Jon Hamm is quoted as saying: “If you don’t like what’s being said change the conversation,” while Gordon Gekko, from the 1987 movie on the excesses of stockbrokers’ excesses said greed, for want of a better word, was “good”.
