Bosses, treat your employees with respect -— that's jobseekers’ top tip to future bosses on how to maintain cordial employment relations.
An online survey of 100 jobseekers by recruitment website NIJobs.com found treating staff with respect to be the most desirable quality in a boss, closely followed by the ability to acknowledge or reward hard work and approachability.
Peter McMonagle, general manager of NIJobs.com, said: “With programmes like The Apprentice highlighting the qualities that bosses are looking for in their staff, it’s important that those who manage staff gain an insight into what they want from a boss.
“A good working relationship is a two-way thing and those in charge should take note of what staff are looking for or else they could lose out.”
Nearly 3/4 of those surveyed said they could possibly do their boss’s job better than their boss can. Nearly 80% believe that people leave jobs because of their managers.
